There are several different Federal student loans available for those student that are in need of financial assistance. Besides the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) and the Federal Direct Student Loan Program (FDSLP), there are several alternatives to assisting students with funding for their college education.
Some of the alternative options for no cosigner student loans are list below:
Federal Pell Grant – In most cases, students that have not yet received a bachelor’s degree are eligible. Unlike loans, funding from the Federal Pell Grant does not require repayment. It’s free.
Academic Competitiveness Grant – Students that have completed a “Recognized Rigorous Secondary School Programs of Study”, may be eligible for $750 for their first year of studies and up to $1300 for the second.
The National SMART Grant – For students that are majoring in physical, computer and life sciences, engineering, mathematics, technology or a foreign language may be able to qualify for up to $4,000 of their third and fourth years.
TEACH Grant Program – Students that choose to work as a full-time teacher may benefit from $4,000 per year if they agree to teach for at least four years in a school that provides education to students of low-income families.
Furthermore, there are many private grants available to students that are in need of assistance for their college education. Beyond the many sources of funding that are available through grants, students that are looking for no cosigner student loans may pursue funding through scholarships also.
